1. METHOD THAT STUCK LIKE GORILLA GLUE:
ICE BATHS IN THE BATHTUB
Teresa and I have been doing ice baths since January. There was a period we were doing once a week. Looking back I am able to appreciate the impacts that had on me.
Over the summer, I had a fall out with my training routine and my eating habits. Which led me into a darker emotional state. Not my first rodeo, but in this confrontation with myself, I experienced a deep appreciation for the times I was excelling at this said routine, the appreciation for when the weights felt lighter, the appreciation for when the sunlight felt like a kiss from heaven and the appreciation for my neutral moods. It's all a cycle and it became clearer to me that even when the going gets tough, it’s important for me to adhere to a routine. Regardless of how I feel in those moments.
You can minimize impact, but you can never really avoid the descent from the highest Mountains.
ANYWAYS, just trying to capture in words a sliver of my human experience this summer of 2023.
So ICE BATHS, my intent is a regular practice.
The benefit I'm seeking to attain is a regulation of the nervous system. Which is what I attribute my high stress to, which I believe leads me to the previously mentioned darker emotional states.
But other benefits include:
Glucose Metabolism

2. NEW STRATEGY I AM IMPLEMENTING:
TRAINING TO CORRECT KNOCKED KNEES
Back in February I had a DEXA scan done which included a scan of my skeleton.
Upon further observation I noticed my skeleton knees where indeed, knocked in.
I had made this observation before in the mirror, but it wasn't until this year that I realized that the reason my knees where knocked was because of my flat feet. And it wasn't until last week, that I watched a video from an internet mentor I have, Physical Therapist Jeff Cavaliere from Athlean X, that I found out I could train to reverse this effect.
Here is a scan of my skeleton showing off its healthy mineral content but slightly misplaced knees.

3. SOMETHING NEW IM TRYING:
RAW BEETS
I heard from a friend of a friend, that had a sister, who was drinking beet juice and having better orgasms. *rimshot*
When I worked at a supplement store in a past life, I heard all kinds of faithful claims to this product and that product. But one that was always recurring, was Beet Powder! Body builders swore by it for crazy pumps, people with heart conditions who picked it up once a month, men claiming this was the secret to their lasting love making, and also women who explained the benefits of Beets such as increased blood flow which in turned served them with more sensitivity throughout their body.
Ever since then, I kept it in the back of my mind that I would buy raw beets and make a morning blend with it!

4.NEW APPROACH I AM TAKING:
A MEDITATION PRACTICE
In conjunction with my approach of weekly ice baths to help neutralize the nervous system, I will be focused on building a meditation practice this month.
A few weeks ago Teresa invited me to sit down with her and meditate for a few a minutes.
I was hesitant at first, claiming I had tried meditation before but I couldn't sit still so there for I preferred "active meditation", which for me, meant walking and being mindful of my breathe as a center. I said this and a few other short ended excuses.
I realized I was experiencing heavy resistance to do this simple act of sitting down. Which then led me to override these feelings and sit down and experience my stillness.
I have read and heard plenty of people I look up to, speak on a meditation practice and the impact it has had in their lives. So it is time for me to stop procrastinating on starting my own practice.
Keeping it simple because simple means consistency;
5 minute sessions twice a day.
